Professor Jonathan Portes is Professor of Economics and Public Policy, Department of Political Economy, King’s College London.

He has spent most of his career as a civil servant, as a senior economist at the Department for Work and Pensions, and the Cabinet Office. From 2011 to 2015, he was Director of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research.

He is now a Senior Fellow of the Economic and Social Research Council's UK in a Changing Europe initiative.
