Dear Editor,
There is a curious installation on the first floor of the Sailmaker’s Shopping Centre in Ipswich. If you glance in the window it could mean a multitude of things to you, but that is the genius of it. Step inside and meet the community project expert, Max, the curator of this interactive museum/shop/forum/talking stop.
I cannot tell you what you will get out of it. That will depend on your culture, your place in the world, your hopes, your dreams, your learning curve, your history, your gifts. But oh boy, you will travel in time, in language, get conversation, peace, healing, art, personal memories, poetry perhaps, and if you’re brave enough to open your mind for 10 minutes, almost certainly an increased understanding, an opportunity to exchange information and stories.
Its formal name is the ‘Ipswich Windrush Society’. It doesn’t do it justice.
Yours faithfully,
Audrey Naylor
