The cause of clean rivers has been championed by EAB since our launch. The indifference of government and the cynicism of the water companies has evoked an enormous backlash across the region.
One of the rivers featured prominently in public support for cleaning up our waterways is the Gaywood, which runs through Kings Lynn. It is a rare chalk stream and much loved by local people. Peter Clitheroe is a filmmaker who now lives in Suffolk but was brought up in Kings Lynn. He has dear memories of his childhood beside the stream, and is distressed at what has become of it.
But with others he is trying to change that. So this film is a love letter to the river he remembers, a film for the people of Kings Lynn, their film about their river. He hopes it may play a part in encouraging the town to take on the renaissance of the Gaywood.
