What crazy gearbox lacks reverse?
What car designer leaving out
this vital function feels complete?
What driver, fed on monstrous lies
by sleazy salesmen keen to hide
defective features, swallows all
or places trust in soothing words
that peddle dreams while sounding true.
For those who reckless hear the lies
and buy, then, when they come to drive,
to hold the line that’s straight ahead
when facing danger, traffic blocks
or cul-de-sacs is quite absurd.
And if that’s true for those with cars
how true it must be held for those
who steer this crippled ship of state.
