After a prolonged hiatus due to the pandemic, Art on the Prom is set to make its grand return to Felixstowe. This popular event will showcase the creative talents of more than 90 artists and craft makers, promising a day-long celebration of artistry and community spirit. The event is scheduled for Sunday 3 September, and will run from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm along the picturesque promenade, extending from the Pier to Spa Gardens.
Free admission and a day of festivities
One of the highlights of Art on the Prom is that it is entirely free for the public to attend. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to come and be a part of this much-loved event. The day promises a wonderful amalgamation of art, crafts, walkabout artists, entertainment, and street food to tantalise the senses. The festivities will be extended throughout Felixstowe, courtesy of the Love Felixstowe, a town-wide free festival taking place concurrently.
Supporting local creativity
Art on the Prom is a contemporary art fair where professional and hobby artists display and sell original work. This year, over 90 artists will be showcasing their creations, covering a wide range of media. The event typically attracts an estimated 20,000 people, making it a significant cultural gathering for the community.
Not-for-profit and community spirit
The cost of Art on the Prom is met by grants, sponsorship from two local firms, Goldstar Transport and Aquabridge Law, as well as the fee charged to artists for a stall. Sponsors benefit by being associated with one of Felixstowe’s best-known and most popular events, further highlighting the strong community spirit that underpins this artistic celebration.
Iona Hodgson, Event Producer at Art Eat Events, expressed her gratitude for the support and emphasised, “Without the generous support from local organisations, the return of the event in 2023 would not have been possible. Art Eat Events are proud to be reinstating this community-driven event and wish everyone who takes part huge success. We hope to return every year and urge the public to visit and enjoy what promises to be a wonderful array of affordable arts and crafts from local talented creatives.”
